This job position is part of the Antarctic Infrastructure and Modernization for Science (AIMS) project.
This is an initiative of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) United States Antarctic Program (USAP) and is a major capital investment effort to support the United States' world-class science program in Antarctica.
The infrastructure modernization being proposed under the AIMS project is to ensure that McMurdo Station remains a viable platform for supporting Antarctic science for the next 35 to 50 years.
Parsons is the designer and builder for the Antarctic Infrastructure Improvement (AIMS) efforts under the Antarctic Support Contract with the National Science Foundation.
You will be involved in the largest construction project ever performed on the continent of Antarctica.
You will work on-site at McMurdo Station during the austral summer season from October to March.
You will deploy through New Zealand to Antarctica and will be part of the on-site management team to deliver this flagship project for the NSF and the United States during site activities.
Parsons is seeking a Construction Superintendent for high profile and complex heavy civil infrastructure construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience on complicated transportation projects such as signature bridges, marine facilities, highways or rail/transit.
The Construction Superintendent plans, organizes, and supervises specific portions of construction work such as mechanical, rigging, electrical, etc.
Applies expertise and specialized talents to guide the efforts of the assigned craft.
The successful candidate will be well versed in labor and trade work practices and union requirements.
Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.
Responsibilities:
Organizes and allocates the workforces in various areas to maintain adequate manpower balance for the scheduled construction activities.
Monitors manpower requirements, efficiency, and productivity of construction crews.
Coordinates the material and equipment requirements with planned engineering and construction schedules.
Provides technical direction in construction methods to craft supervisors and foremen to attain required quality control.
Assists in the selection and designation of craft foremen.
Verifies layouts with field engineers and ensures craftsmen maintain the established horizontal and vertical controls.
Coordinates work efforts between various subcontractors and company workforce.
Maintains production controls and verifies the construction progress at prescribed intervals.
Understands and applies the company labor relations policies.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience) 5
years of demonstrated self-performing experience in the construction field, on large, complex, heavy civil transportation projects (Road & Highways, Bridge & Tunnel or Rail & Transit) Must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project Position may be based out of any project location in the US, hence MUST be willing to relocate to any project location Must be able to pass the National Science Foundation Physical Qualification Process.
